A Quick round up

It’s been a hectic and happening time so far at IIFT post our summers.  A quick round up of the “happening” stuff. The fourth trimester had the IT symposium written all over it. The so called farzi Ankur Bhai delivered a flawless execution of the event. The first event handled by our batch was indeed a great show. The fifth trimester had Tradewinds written all over it with Praddy bhai steering the event. 19th Nov 2008, another impeccable performance and a day to remember.

The two symposiums were followed by the placement process at Delhi. After  Infosys and Patni, it was now Usha’s turn to be fooled  by a sardar’s googly. An in hand salary of..ohh u all know it to the last decimal, and perks like…ohh u know this as well, made him a hero ( in his own perception J) . Nevertheless, he plans to sell fans in the middle east (international marketing , u see).   So what if everyone has an AC there;  tussi great ho paaji, u can do anything.

Mohit bhai exercised his call option just a couple of hours before the contract expiry at a strike price of… (the strike price is dependent on who the audience is J ).  A consulting profile with an industry leader , what else could anyone ask for. Bas yaar jaane se pehle, meri ek request hai..ek GD hojaaye J.

The neech person finally got a neech (niche) profile.  Rumour has it that he spent a lot of time in the interview and was exhausted by the time he came out, but, u see, we don’t entertain rumours on this blog. Jiggi bhai got a dream offer and a dream location as well. A sarkari aadmi in a sarkaari company.

And as the TCS team was packing up, I just managed to sneak one last offer from them.  And the elusive MBA dream came to an end. It was on 21st September 2004 that I got the my first offer on campus from Infosys;  and now  on 3rd December 2008, the second offer of my life; Believe me, the feeling was no different and I have no words to express it. As they say, “ every job is special” ( more so in a recession).

As we come to the very end of this two year holiday, we will run through these 8 characters who are a bundle of contradictions, but who as a group, can give anyone a run for their money. Up next is the  consultant from genpact….

End of First Year: Looking back

As the third trimester draws to an exciting yet much awaited end, its time to look back at our roller coaster ride at IIFT. It was on the 2nd of July last year that we reached the clandestine sectors in Salt Lake in pursuit of our dreams. As fate would have it, a bunch of 9 individuals got together at a hostel (it looked more like a concentration camp) with hardly any room to manoeuvre. The PDPs ensured that the there was going to be no respite. It was probably the toughest month here and it geared us up for the journey ahead.

The first trimester saw us shifting to a Jannat at GC 100 ; a dream house and I got a special roomie; who would have thought in his wildest dreams that this gold medallist (self proclaimed :)) was going to take up the reins of this batch. I have had the chance to observe him more closely than anyone in this batch and all I can say on a public forum is that uses his core competencies to his best :) . A very cute sardar indeed . Tussi great ho paaji :)

The next senior most guy, Jwala aka Rahul took some of his most critical decisions staying with us. When we were searching hard for live projects, he ensured that we get a chance to organise a marriage ceremony, all on our own.The fact that we enjoy so much is because people like him are working hard to find us good placements.
I only pray that iska ek sapna poora ho jaaye…. isko CAT mai ek IIM se call aa jaaye :)

Its getting too boring and formal. Life mai kuch maza chahiye bhai. Here comes Pradeep Biltoria aka Praddy bhai :) . The life line of GC. Life would be a dead rubber without this guy. The Gen Sec of our batch, he is the one who adds the flavour to this group. Aajkal radha bazaar ke chakkar laga rahe hain :) Of course the credit for organising an awesome farewell party goes to him. Praddy bhai, gen sec to theek hai lekin apni dance classes parallel honi chahiye. Kuch log inhe pyaar se Roll No 12 kehte hain.

Chalo thodi padhaayi kar li jaaye ab. The boys topper Mohit Malik. Now what an irony. Bhagwaan ne opposite poles ko roommates bana diya :). My proximity to him in roll numbers ensured that mujhe exams mai zyada pachtaana nahi padta :) Also a trusted partner in paper writing. He believes in water conservation and utilises it only when it becomes a necessity ( I cannot be more explicit plz … ) And finally hez thought that padhai ke saath saath kuch aur kiya jaaye and hez handling a team assisting the placement committee.

Mota mota, newspaper padho aur paranthe khao. My co-coordinator of the Blash Club is a true marwari. Iska to trader banna banta hai bhai. He had spent days and nights studying current affairs with one objective: to teach Priyanka Jain. The most eloquent user of words which cannot be quoted here, he is one sweet guy you would love to be with.

Enough of engineers; lets get some variety now. Here comes an economist from Hindu college. When he had arrived here, he appeared calm and quiet. But he has inherited a lot of qualities from his roomie jignesh. An ardent fan of Cheap Songs. Aajkal Corporate relations committee ki team sambhal rahe hai aur kaafi khush khush rehte hain :)

Apne Consulting coordinator to halke halke mai hai. There was once a time when me and Ankur proudly discussed sensex, and dow jones and Nikkei and much more. Not any more though :). Hez more worried about exporters in moradabad than his losses in the sensex. I have had the pleasure of making several bplans with him and jwala :)

And about me, all I can say is I am blessed; blessed to have friends like these; friends for a lifetime. The aspirations with which I had entered the echelons of IIFT look more closer to being fulfilled. We have spent the finest moments of our life together and I hope this bonding lives longer than our lives.

Waiting to join you guyz after Summers for another year of masti

Yaaron dosti badi hi haseen hai…yeh na ho to kya phir bolo zindagi hai…….

The ride of my life

Who says you need to do a bungee jump to prove your fearlessness? There are easier wayz to prove that, but more dangerous as well. How about a pillion ride? Yes you read it right. A pillion ride can be more trembling than anything you never imagined. It is just that you need to find the right driver or should i call THE ANGEL OF DEATH.
Things happen to you when you are least prepared for them. And today was my turn for a STUNNER. Our very own Aashish aka baanke bihaari aka nathu with his aerodynamic hairstyle
Just scared my life out of me today.
If ever given a chance, I would like to confer the title of "Schumacher of IIFT" to this brave soul.
This post goes as a warning to all those who might try to take this challenge in the future.

Hats off to Our Schmacher.

Signing off....

GC Celebrates : Halke Halke main :)

Its been a long break without a post, but thanks to the innovative cartoons by our very own "the great A", the hits on this blog continue to remain high.So lets move on.And lets celebrate together...and here is the reason why.....

The smiling face, the bikhre hue baal and that anokhi chaal. All these characteristics vehemently shout out one name: Ankur Agarwal
A student at times and a consultant at others.
A marketing guru with an inclination for finance.
A specialist in financial management but invests based on market sentiment
A cook in the evening and a cartoonist at nite
A web site coordinator in crisis and a disco dancer in ecstacy
A heart throb for some ;) and a friend for many

If I were to summarize him in his own words, he is a "total farzi" :)
His "halke halke main" model is all set to rock the consulting world.
And behind this comedy of errors is a veiled personality, a big heart and a pure soul.

Today, 8th of December stands witness to the fact that God created some men more equal than others. Today we celebrate the birthday of this genuis, our very own Ankur bhai.

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday dude. Live Life King Size.
